Vivian May Dean, formerly of Hagerstown, MD, passed away at the Homewood Health Center in Williamsport, MD on Friday, April 25, 2014. Born April 2, 1920 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Nannie May (Grosh) Foltz and Martin Leroy Foltz, Sr.

Vivian was a graduate of the 1937 class of Hagerstown High School. After graduation, she held several secretarial and bookkeeping positions in local businesses. She was vice president of the Beta Sigma Phi service sorority. She became a full-time homemaker while her children were young and worked in the family business as the office manager of Brewer Candy Company. Later, she was secretary to the director of the Dialysis unit at Western Maryland Hospital for ten years before retiring in 1982. She was a charter member of Haven Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, MD.

Vivian had a gracious spirit, a fun sense of humor, and an abiding love for her family and friends, hosting many family and social gatherings well into her 80s. She was preceded in death by one brother, Martin L Foltz, Jr.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Haven Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Ray E. Blanset officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
