William "Bill" Mathias Smith, I

William Mathias Smith, I, 75, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022 at Williamsport Nursing Home, Williamsport.
Born on July 9, 1946 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Frances (Dawson) and Clarence Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathleen Jeanette (Heefner) Smith, who passed April 17, 2016.
William graduated from North Hagerstown High School, class of 1965.
He worked as a carpenter for 44 years until his retirement from RB Keener & Sons. He was a 25 year member of Cornerstone Community Church in Hagerstown.
He is survived by Daughters; Jenny Shank and husband Dave of Hagerstown, and Shellie Fiddler and husband Jimmy of Hampstead, NC; Sons; William M. Smith, II, and Mark Wayne Smith and wife Kelly, all of Hagerstown; 8 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren; and Brother; Wayne Smith and wife Vicki and their children Bryan and Laura.
A funeral will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11 AM at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Jeff Casto officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Reformed Church Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Family will receive friends one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in William's name to Rest Haven Funeral Home to assist with funeral costs.
