William Daniel Grove

William Daniel â??Bobâ? Grove, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born May 15, 1930, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Lester W. and Edna C. (Harbaugh) Grove.

Bob worked with his father at the West End Feed and Supply Co., and then retired with 27 years of service as the district manager of Home Mutual Life Insurance Co., where he received numerous awards, including top district manager.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid camper, hunter and fisherman. He owned, raised and trained thoroughbred racehorses, was a member of the LOO Moose, Brunswick, and past president of West End Little League, where he loved watching his grandchildren play baseball.

Bob was a devoted husband and family man.

He was Christian by faith.

He is survived by his loving wife, D. Elaine (Stickell) Grove; two children, Stanley W. Grove and wife, Jacqueline, of Berkeley Springs and Deborah Shank and husband, Robert, of Hagerstown; one sister, Mary Manford of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Robert Grove and wife, Michele, Stacy Fockler and husband, William, and Daniel McCoy and wife, Amy, all of Hagerstown, Scott Sheppard and family, Heather Grove Robert Whittington and family, and Shawn Whittington and family; great-grandchildren, Will Grove, Zach Grove, Chase McCoy, Gabe Rodriquez, Makayla Plume and Tara Turner; one great-great-granddaughter, Karsyn Turner; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Grimm and Frances Hammond.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Don Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
