William J. Shaffer

February 8, 1926 — January 13, 2015

William Jack "Pie" Shaffer, 88, of Hagerstown, passed away, Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro.

Born February 8, 1926 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Harry S. and Reda V. (Turner) Shaffer. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Shaffer.

Mr. Shaffer was a US Army veteran of WW II.

He retired as an assembler at Fairchild Aircraft, Hagerstown.

Mr. Shaffer was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Callahan, Fla.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Shirley Irene (Mitchell) Corbett Shaffer; two daughters, Sharon Seibert and Reda Collison, both of Hagerstown; step children, Susan Saunders (Mark), Chet "Bud" Pogue, Sandra Jean Ocker and Rebecca Melody; grandchildren, Brock Seibert (Staci), Amy Squibb (Frank) and Melissa Collison; step grandchildren, Sarah and Joey Saunders; great grandchildren, Josh Pluta, Frankie and Christopher Squibb, Sarah and Brittany Arnold; great-great grandchild, Devon Arnold; niece, Vickie Stouffer (Clint); great nieces, Kelly and Molly Stouffer.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Patrick Ricker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in "Pie's" name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to John Wesley United Methodist Church, 129 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown is assisting the family with the arrangements.
