Winifred Virginia Moats, 76, of Funkstown, died Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Winnie was born January 19, 1943 in Hagerstown, but spent her early life in Keedysville, Baltimore, Chewsville, and Shippensburg.
She was the daughter of the late Rev. D. Homer and Mary Genevieve (Kendle) Kendall.
She attended NHHS and graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1962. She was a proud graduate of Washington County Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1964. She humbly served the local healthcare community as a registered nurse for 44 years. She also served as a parish nurse after retirement.
She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown, MD, for over 50 years.
She is survived by her beloved children, Tonia Horst (Randy) of Greene, Iowa, Anneliese Moats of Adamstown, MD, Bob Moats (Jeanna) of Greencastle, PA, and Kurt Moats of Hagerstown; three grandchildren, Kaiden and Kendyl Moats of Greencastle, PA, and Gavin Moats of Hagerstown; three siblings, Bill Kendall (Gale) of Lilitz, PA, Dwight Kendall (Maureen) of Frederick, MD, and Jo (Mike) Drewitt of Marysville, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chase Andrew Moats.
Funeral services will be private at Winnie's request. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
She will be laid to rest in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
