Amelia Kathryn Berry

Amelia Kathryn Berry, 87, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on January 22, 2024, at her daughter’s home. She was the wife of the late William E. Berry Sr. for 42 years.

Born on July 24, 1936, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Fred Bernard Gipe Sr. and the late Gladys Louise (Appenzeller) Gipe. Amelia worked a few odd jobs over the years but primarily was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Full Gospel Church. She was an Ordained minister. She had a heart for the elderly. Her main ministry was holding church services at various nursing homes in and around Hagerstown. 

Amelia is survived by her children, daughter Susan L. Ruiz and husband Alfonso Jr., son William E. Berry Jr. and wife Judy, and son Burgee D. Berry and wife Gwendolyn, 10 grandchildren, Tara, Alfonso III, Juan, Marcus, Brooke, Ashley, Brandin, Natasha, Jason and Meghan, as well as 20 great-grandchildren, and cousins Pat and John Gipe.

She is preceded in death by her father Fred Gipe Sr., mother Gladys Gipe, brothers John and Fred Gipe and Amelia’s husband William Berry.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 6-8pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 1pm at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastors Samuel Fendley, Charles Donivan and Tom Stottlemyer. Interment will follow at Rest Cemetery.
