Anna Lee (Poffenberger) Kepler
Anna graduated from Boonsboro High School in 1945, and Hagerstown Business College in 1946. She retired from the Maryland Board of Education after 25 years of service at Middletown High School as a secretary, and library aide. Anna was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Zion, Middletown, MD. She was also a charter member of AMVETS Auxiliary, Middletown, MD.
She enjoyed serving as a volunteer at the Vindobona Nursing Home, Braddock Heights, MD, for 11 years. Anna also did volunteer work at the Ravenwood Nursing Home, Hagerstown, MD, for 18 years.
Knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint were some of Anna’s favorite past times. She also enjoyed playing her favorite hymns on the piano. Preparing family dinners every Sunday gave Anna a lot of pleasure. It is fair to say, “no one ever went home hungry".
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her first-born son, Darrell Dean Kepler in 2002, three sisters, Marie Poffenberger, Hilda Hughes, and Dorothy Butts.
Anna is survived by her son Stuart Kepler and wife, Diane Shores-Kepler of Hagerstown, MD. Daughter-in-law; Debra Kepler of Hagerstown, MD. Grandson-Benjamin Kepler of Hagerstown, MD. Grandson- Brian Kepler and wife, Anna of Gaithersburg, MD. Great grandson- Dimitri Kepler of Gaithersburg, MD. Great granddaughter, Maya Kepler of Gaithersburg, MD. She is survived by other nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to memorial service on Saturday, May 11, 2024. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church. 107 West Main Street Middletown, MD. 21769. With Pastors Matt Day, and Ron Reaves officiating. Followed by a graveside service at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, West Green Street Middletown, MD 21769.
