Beverly Diane Sharpe

Beverly Diane (Wagner) Sharpe, age 87, passed away peacefully February 4, 2023.  She was born April 15, 1935, in Washington County, Maryland to John R. and E. Louise Wagner Sr. She eloped and married her Hagerstown High School friend, Brian K. (Kent) Sharpe Sr. in June of 1954. The couple divorced in 1975 but remained social until his passing in 1979. Diane received care for the last few months at Michaux Manor, in PA.
Diane owned a small farm near Leitersburg, MD for nearly 50 years where she enjoyed raising sheep and cattle while keeping busy with mowing her own yard and tending to a nice garden. Her favorite animal was always a dog of some breed.
She retired in 1996 from the Washington County Free Library following a stellar career of being recognized as the “Book Mobile lady.” She along with Cindy and Mr. Jeff made the perfect team. Diane had a lifetime love for reading. After retiring, she worked part time as a switch board operator at the Western Maryland Hospital in Hagerstown. Diane enjoyed researching genealogy for the family and also for others. This endeavor required the use of microfilm and lots of driving before computers.
Additionally, she assisted for many years with the Wash Co Retired Educational Personnel Association (WCREPA) by researching, scheduling, coordinating and chaperoning many bus trips across the country.  Diane served with the Chewsville, MD Girl Scout Troop #276. Diane loved the Lord and attended several churches over the years including Shiloh UMC; Chewsville UMC; and most recently First Christian Church in Hagerstown. She also played piano in the home and for the church.

Siblings of Diane included 3 brothers and 1 sister: (Half-brother) John R. Wagner Jr, Lt US Navy, (Deceased); Daniel L. Wagner Sr. (& Mary), of Austin, PA; David G. Wagner of Hagerstown, MD and Elizabeth Joy Lushbaugh, (Deceased).  There are many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Diane was mother to 6 children: Karen E. Griffin (& Clyde), Smithsburg; Brian “Kent” Sharpe, Jr. (& Nancy), Smithsburg; Janice M. Tucker (Deceased); Kendra D. Daisher, Frederick; Robert F. Sharpe (Deceased) and William H. Sharpe (& Gina), Hagerstown.

She has 9 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren: Jennifer Gregory; David Miller; Chad Tucker; Scott Tucker; Zachary Booz; Meghan Thoerig; Dianna Young; Elisabeth Sharpe and John Sharpe; followed by the Great Grands: Hayden; Brooklyn; Sawyer; Tessa; William; Aviana; Emalyse; Brighem; Jaxon; Beckett; Harrison and Payson.  We love you, Mimi Sharpe.
