Bonnie Ruth (Mick) Kuhn

Bonnie Ruth (Mick) Kuhn, 96, formerly of Funkstown, MD, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at Somerford House, Hagerstown, MD.  She was born May 29, 1926, in Orlando, Braxton County, WV.  She was the daughter of the late Claud Mortimer and Haydee Gertrude (Skinner) Mick.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Fred W. Kuhn, on January 17, 2022, a daughter, Charlotte, on December 29, 1955, a son-in-law, Franklin P. Woodring, on January 26, 2013, and a brother, Claud M. Mick, Jr.  Bonnie graduated from Burnsville High School in Burnsville, WV where she was the Salutatorian of the Class of 1942. She attended and graduated from West Virginia Business College in Clarksburg, WV. She was a stay-at-home mother until her daughter was in high school.  She enjoyed reading, cooking, and hosting friends and family in her home. Bonnie worked at Wright-Speicher & Gardner and was a secretary for Fred Wright, Jr. in the early 1960s. In 1965 Bonnie became the secretary at Grace Brethren Church and worked for the late Dr. Bob Collitt.  She retired in 1982.

Bonnie was a member of Cornerstone Community Church (formerly, Grace Brethren) where she served as a deacon, SMM leader, and youth leader.  She was on the Missions Committee and taught Sunday School along with numerous other duties.

She was part of the volunteer staff of the Maryland Cracker Barrel magazine.

She is survived by her daughter, Suanne Kuhn Woodring, grandson, Chad Woodring and wife Dawn, great grandchildren, Clare and Lance Woodring, a brother, Charles E. Mick, Sr. of Jarrettsville, MD, and several nieces and nephews. Private interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for Bonnie and Fred Kuhn will be held June 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Community Church. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Kuhn/Woodring fund at the Community Foundation of Washington County, 37 S. Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or the Pavilion Fund at Cornerstone Community Church, 20510 Beaver Creek Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
