Carolyn Sue Smith

Carolyn Sue Smith, 72, of Smithsburg, Md., passed away, Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, Md.

Born July 5, 1950 in Williamsport, Md., she was the daughter of the late, Edward Ardinger, Sr. and Josephine Loretta (Speaker) Ardinger. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Mrs. Smith retired as a produce department assistant manager with Food Lion Food Stores at multiple store locations.

She also was a Breast Cancer Survivor.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her loving husband of 23 years and together for 45 years, John William Smith; three daughters, Carol Dieterich and husband Hillard of Chambersburg, Pa., Christina Householder and husband, Glenn of Martinsburg, W.Va. and Tina Kuhn of Hagerstown; three siblings, Miriam Shatzer of Hagerstown, Mickey Ardinger of Greencastle, Pa. and Dolly Jones of Keedysville, Md.; fourteen grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 7-9 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Graveside services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn's name to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. or to the Washington County Humane Society.
