Charles Jerald Derr

Charles Jerald (Jerry) Derr, 82, passed Monday evening, March 4, 2024. He was a resident of Julia Manor in Hagerstown, MD.

He was brought up in Shepherdstown, WV. Jerry was the son of his late parents, Charles Melvin Derr and Dorothy Jones Derr-Kehm; and predeceased by his sister, Judith D. W. Hofmann (who is survived by her husband Ernst). 

He was also predeceased by his daughter, Tracy Lynn Riggleman.

Jerry is survived by his son, Michael S. Derr of Hancock, MD.  He has three grandchildren: Donny, Megan, and Tyler Riggleman and a great-granddaughter, Morgan Elaine.

He attended schools in Shepherdstown, WV through high school and Shepherd University.  He was active in

 three sports in high school and was inducted into the Shepherdstown H.S. Hall of Fame.

In his lifetime, Jerry worked as a Lifeguard for Shannondale; a representative for Schering Corp.; was the Physical Director of the Frederick Co. YMCA; and also a Research Chemist for NIH and Fort Detrick. While in Wyoming he established S.S. Mobilecom for Motorola. He completed his career experiences in Real Estate as the Broker both in Florida and Hagerstown with R.G. Realty.

Jerry enjoyed fishing and was an avid Redskin fan (since the late 50's) and a big supporter of Shepherd Rams football team.

Jerry always loved those West Virginia hills!
