Charles Franklin Wilson, Jr.

Charles Franklin Wilson, Junior,  age 82 passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Hagerstown Healthcare Center after a long illness. 


Born on January 18, 1942 he was the eldest son of the late Charles Franklin Wilson, Senior and Mary Elizabeth Young of New Jersey. He was proceeded in death by his brother Richard Wilson. Charlie is survived by his wife Linda, his three sisters Gwendolyn Jerabek, Alice Croft and Martha Keeling. All four daughters, Esther Jean and Sandra Michelle, Sherri Linette and LaDonna Lee Snyder, his grandson Ronald Lee Rhodes and his cat, Oreo. 

 

Charlie graduated from Tacoma Academy in Takoma Park Maryland in 1961 and from Columbia Union College now Washington Adventist University  in 1965 with a degree in history education. 

 

Charlie had wonderful memories of his high school years shared with his brother Richard. They both played the trumpet and were in the band - though Charlie later switched to playing piano. He was proud that one year they played in the cherry blossom parade in Washington DC. 

 

Upon graduating, Charlie married Erika Barwich and they had two daughters Esther Jean and Sandra Michelle. 

 

Charlie later married Linda Faye Welker in 1994 and gained two more daughters: Sherri Linette and LaDonna Lee Snyder. Linda and Charlie have one grandson Ronald L. Rhodes. 

 

Charlie worked in social services for the state of Maryland, but his favorite job was cat sitting. He loved cats and they knew it and loved him back. 

 

A memorial service to honor Charlie will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 3pmThe viewing begins at 2pm. Prior to the service, family and friends are invited to attend the church service at 11am and a funeral luncheon at 1pm.  The service will be held at the Willow Brook Seventh-Day Adventist Church 8916 Mapleville Rd., Boonsboro, MD 21713. Flowers may be delivered to the church Saturday morning after 9:30am.
