Charlotte Mae Clemson Shaffer

Charlotte Mae Clemson Shaffer of Hagerstown, Md. passed from this life September 12, 2024, at Somerford Assisted Living in Hagerstown after a lengthy struggle with dementia. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Shaffer and her first husband, Paul Clemson Jr., and her brother, Alva "Ray" Dinterman Jr. 

 Charlotte was born on July 24, 1937, in Frederick, Md and was the daughter of the late Alva Ray Dinterman and Edith June Staley Dinterman.

 She is survived by her brother Timothy Dinterman & wife Jan, sister-in-law Clara Dinterman, all of Walkersville, her sons, David Clemson & wife Donna and Robert Clemson & wife Cathie, both of Myersville, Grandchildren Jonathan Clemson (Megan), Bradford Clemson (Lacy), Daniel Clemson (Kara) and Rachel Clemson-McCormack (Tim) and 6 Great Grandchildren. 

Charlotte grew up in Walkersville, graduated from Walkersville High School in 1955 then went to work for C & P Telephone Co. where she worked until her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading, playing cards & dominoes with friends and spending time with her family. She was a faithful Weight Watchers member for many decades, and  was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

 Visitation will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, MD Friday, September 20, 2024, from Noon - 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Reid of Emmanuel United Methodist Church officiating.  Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial at Rest Haven Cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
