Clara Catherine Norris

August 16, 1932 — March 27, 2011

Clara Catherine (Barnhart) Norris, 78, of Hagerstown, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born Aug. 16, 1932, in Clear Spring, she was the daughter of the late Henry Clinton and Gertrude Viola (Timmons) Barnhart.

She was a lifetime member of the Church Of God Universal.

Her other memberships were the Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 and AMVETS Post 10, and she was a former resident and activities coordinator at the Frances Murphy Center in Hagerstown.

Clara had worked at the E.J. Fennel Professional Center in Hagerstown, and also for Zayre department store.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert Carlton Norris Sr., in 1993.

Clara is survived by seven daughters, Dixie L. Gaver and husband, Robert, Linda K. Young and husband, James III, Barbara A. Shank and fiancé, Lloyd Gibney, Carol Kane and husband, Dave, and Wanda M. Kaufman and companion, Todd McCall, all of Hagerstown, Cindy L. Wagner and husband, Robert Sr., of Funkstown, and Diana L. Feigley and husband, Fred, of Chambersburg, Pa.; six sons, John R. Norris and wife, Charlene, Alan P. Norris and companion, Charlette Jones, David â??Tuckâ? A. Norris Jr. and wife, Robin, and Christopher W. Norris, all of Hagerstown, Robert â??Bobbyâ? C. Norris and companion, Sue Rooney, of Hastings, Fla., and his former wife, Hope Norris of Hagerstown, and Thomas E. Norris of Hastings; 27 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by nine brothers, eight sisters and twin great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Alvin A. Craig and Pastor Kenneth Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
