Dale William Hollinger

Dale W. Hollinger, 87 of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away peacefully December 31, 2024 at Homewood at Williamsport. He was the husband of Clara Rosalie Holshey for 47 years. Born in York, PA, he was the son of Joseph W. Hollinger and Charlotte Flandermyer Hollinger.

After graduating from York High School, Dale served 4 years in the United States Navy. He graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Finance, then moved to Maryland where he worked as an auditor at Potomac Edison Power Company until retirement. 

Several years after they were married, Rosalie developed muscular dystrophy. Until her death in 2012, Dale lovingly cared for Rosalie in their home and prioritized her needs above his own. The family would like to thank Rosalie’s dedicated caregivers, especially Arlene Horst, who was with Rosalie through the long years of her illness.

Dale was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Maryland. He enjoyed watching professional sports and was an avid fan of Penn State football. He also enjoyed gardening, playing tennis, pinochle, poker, and was a member of an investment club.

Dale is survived by a sister-in-law, Lois Hollinger of Allentown, PA; nephews Edward Hollinger Jr. of Chicago, IL and James Hollinger of Spring Grove, PA; niece Nancy Riggins of Allentown, PA; 7 great-nephews and a great-niece.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on July 12, 2025 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 17906 Garden Lane, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
