David D. Bennett, Sr.

November 4, 1964 — March 8, 2022

David Dwayne Bennett Sr., 57, of Hagerstown, Md, passed away, Tuesday March 8, 2022, at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore after a pioneer xenotransplantation surgery on Jan 7, 2022.

Born November 4, 1964, in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Rev. Richard Elwood and Leona Jean (Mason) Bennett. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a sister, Darlia J. Bennett.

David was a 1983 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. He was a handyman and former driver for the Washington County Commission on Aging, Inc and was known to be of service to the elderly and those in need.

He is survived by two children, David D. Bennett Jr. (Kristi) and Nicole J. McCray (Mark); five grandchildren, Sawyer, Preston, Wade, Dean and Gillian; two sisters, Ruth E. Bennett, and Crystal J. Bennett; a niece, Daniela Smith; a nephew, Joshua Weaver and his beloved dog, Lucky.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Paul Harne officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
