David "Ink" Bowers

David “Ink” Bowers passed away on October 8, 2025, with his daughter by his side. Born on December 2, 1936, he was the son of the late Foster Bowers, Sr. and Sarah (Hoover) Bowers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mae Bowers; sisters, Marcella Kirby, Sarah Hoch, and Phyllis Turner; brothers, Thomas Bowers, Donald Bowers, Norman Bowers, Foster Bower, Jr., Orville Bowers, Paul Bowers, Joseph Bowers, and Phillip Bowers; and one stepdaughter, JoEllen Semler.

Ink graduated from Williamsport High School in 1955, then served his country in the Army. He was a hard worker, having a career in shipping and receiving at companies such as Reisner Inc. and Fairchild Industries in Hagerstown, then worked in maintenance for Williamsport Nursing Home until he retired. After retirement, he and his wife volunteered there. He also did a lifetime of service for his church. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was an active person who enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, Bingo, and spending time with family.

David is survived by his daughter, Kellie Root and her husband, John Root; stepchildren, Keith Semler and Linda Domer; grandchildren, Lorah Brooks, Daniel Nye, Joe Semler, Kate Leydecker, Caleb Root, and Jenna Root; and four great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held for Ink on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Paramount Baptist Church with a meal following directly after.
