Donald Lee House, 85, of Funkstown, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
Born on August 14, 1935 in Hagerstown, Donald was the son of the late David Augusta House and Pearl Rhodetta (Hott) House. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harry House and Leroy House; his sisters, Thelma German and Erma Snyder; and one great-grandaughter.
Donald served in the Army Reserve following school and was discharged in 1962. He was a former minister and attended Emmanuel Chapel in Smithsburg. He was also a salesman and retired from Shockey's Furniture. He was a member of the Washington County Amvets.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Vernadine Louise House. He is also survived by his son, Stephen House of Lancaster, SC; his daughters, Denice Weaver and her husband, Mel, of Hagerstown and Wendy Smith and her husband, Roy, of Hagerstown; his sisters, Dorothy McClung of Hagerstown, Judy Moore of Clear Spring, and Tempe Swope of Hagerstown; as well as eleven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Home on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 12:00 PM with Pastor Jonathan Laye officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Compassion International at www.compassion.com
