On Saturday June 28, 2025 in Salisbury, Maryland, Doris Marie (Disney) Ziegler, 92, was called home to be with the Lord. She lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Jesus Christ, and guided by the teachings of the Word of God.
Doris Ziegler was a woman of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life. Her mission in life was to tell anyone who would listen about her wonderful Jesus.
Doris was born on October 23, 1932 in Manhattan, NY to Catherine (Kennedy) Gabelman Disney of Yonkers, NY and William Joseph Disney of Manhattan, NY, originally from Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland. Shortly after her birth the family moved to the Bronx, NY where Doris developed her thick Bronx accent. Her early education was at Saint Jerome Roman Catholic Church parochial school. She left high school early to take care of her terminally ill mother.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Melvin Jack Ziegler. Doris and Jack met on a blind date in 1951 while Jack was stationed at Fort Jay, New York. They were married on January 5, 1952. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings: Mary Gabelman Spanier, Lawrence Gabelman, George Gabelman, Edward Gabelman, Catherine Gabelman Farrell, Charles Gabelman, Anna Disney, Frances Disney, Robert Disney, James Disney, William Disney Jr, and Eileen Disney.
On July 31, 1964, Doris surrendered her heart to Jesus Christ at Falling Waters, West Virginia. She became an active member of Bethel Assembly of God Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, CA President, Missionettes worker, and in local visitation. On Friday nights and Tuesday mornings she was faithful to attend the church prayer meetings. Later Jack and Doris together became members of the Good Shepherd Ministries.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Linda G. Ziegler of Salisbury, Maryland; brother-in-law Francis (Hank) Ziegler and sister-in-law Sue Ziegler of Salisbury, Maryland; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at 1:00 PM. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD following interment at Rest Haven Cemetery.
