Dorothy Lorraine Troxell

Dorothy Lorraine Troxell, 96, of Williamsport, MD, passed away on Sept. 12, 2025, at Homewood Living, Williamsport, MD. She was born on November 12, 1928, in Hagerstown, MD, to Harry B. Martin and Ruth E. Martin of Bryan Place in Hagerstown.

She graduated from Hagerstown High School and pursued a career with Western Maryland Railroad as an executive secretary and later worked for the Samuel K. Spigler Co. Inc. Lorraine faithfully attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Funkstown and was a part of the handbell choir at its inception. She was an active member of the Potomac Fish & Game Club Ladies Auxiliary, for many decades. She loved to both water ski and snow ski and was a member of the Little Heiskel Ski Club. She loved to outfish her husband on occasion and was an outstanding wild game cook/chef. Family, however, was her passion along with criticizing local soccer referees.

Her loving husband/caretaker, Richard H. Troxell, Jr. preceded her in death on December 10, 2020. They were married for 71 years.

She is survived by four children, Krista K. Fitzgerald (Richard), Wendy D. Ricedorf (Bernie), Richard H. Troxell, III (Stacy), and Timothy R. Troxell (Sue); 10 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior, at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Homewood Benevolence Fund, 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, MD 21795.
