Dottie L. Haberbeck

Dorothy "Dottie" L. (Plants) Haberbeck, 102, of Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living.
Born February 18, 1917, in Oswego, New York, she was the daughter of the late Thaddeus and Mildred (Shilling) Plants. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, John William Haberbeck; a son, John Haberbeck; a daughter, Carol A. Hancock; and her sister, Beulah Shortt.
Dorothy graduated high school in Oswego, New York.
She worked as a homemaker, but had previously worked for the city as a tax collector.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 89, both in Hagerstown.
She enjoyed bird watching and doing crossword puzzles.
Dorothy is survived by her son-in-law, Vernon Hancock; four grandchildren, Vernon and John Hancock, John Haberbeck, III, and Christine Haberbeck; and four great-grandchildren, John Hancock, Brayden Hancock, Braydn Haberbeck, and Mikayla Hancock.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Rev. Stanley Steele officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Rest Haven Cemetery following the service.
