Drew Wrayburn Brandenburg

Drew Wrayburn Brandenburg of Cherry Tree Drive, Hagerstown, was born June 9, 1948, to parents, Rowland and Mary Brandenburg. He was the fourth of eight children.

He lived with his family on Dewey Avenue in Hagerstown for 12 years and then 500 Northern Avenue at the Brandenburg Farm. After that time, he went to live at the J. I. Kemp Horn Training Center for Retarded Children in Smithsburg. Later he lived again with his family and then resided at Potomac Center where he lived for several years.

He attended school locally during those years at the Association for Retarded Citizens schools, United Cerebral Palsy, and Unified Community Connections.

Drew is preceded in death by sisters, Marilyn Lee Brandenburg, Melody Dawn Brandenburg; brothers, Dale Allen Brandenburg, and Derryl Eric Brandenburg; uncle, Hugh Brandenburg.

Drew is survived by one sister, Cinda B. Perry; brothers Zane Brandenburg, and Dennis Brandenburg; several nephews, Tyler Brandenburg, Clay Brandenburg, Thomas Colihan II, Dale Christopher Mattingly, Ethan Brandenburg, Jesse Brandenburg, and their families; and one niece, Annie Brandenburg.

From Potomac Center he moved to Cherry Tree Drive for several years where he died peacefully with his caretaker Rosemary Matos by his side, whom he loved.

Drew’s favorite hobbies were coloring books, playing harmonica, counting aloud, spelling and hanging out with his caretakers, reading bible stories, and taking rides with his family.

Drew was in life and death a blessing to his family and everyone he knew.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742. Burial will follow in Rest Haven.
