Earl Fiedler Jr. Selby

Earl Fielder Selby Jr., 73, of Halfway, passed away Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in Williamsport.

Born April 10, 1937, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Earl Fielder Sr. and Janet (Bornes) Selby.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Davis) Selby, who passed away in 1997.

Earl was a 1955 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He retired from Bio Whittaker in Walkersville, Md., and previously had worked for Ryder Truck Lines.

Earl was a dedicated member of the Boy Scouts for more than 35 years. He was a member of Halfway Troop 136 and a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He also was a member of Williamsport American Legion Post 202 and a rifle and shotgun instructor at Camp Sinoquipe.

He is survived by two sons, Mike S. Selby of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Gregory E. Selby of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren, Scott D. Selby of Hagerstown, and Melinda R. Selby and Christina J. Selby, both of Williamsburg; and one great-grandson, Kayden Z. Selby.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Ann Shaffer.

A graveside service will be Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Don Stevenson officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, Hagerstown.
