Edward Free Jr.

Edward Free Jr., 90, of Greencastle, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at his daughter's residence in Greencastle. Born on March 29, 1934, in Talucah, Alabama, he was the son of the late Edward and Martha Free.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Margie Walker, Francis Snead, and Mildred Vann; one brother, Billy; son, Richard Anthony; beloved wife, Clara Free; and one great-granddaughter.

Edward found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved visiting the racetrack, playing slot machines, and engaging in friendly gambling, as well as playing the harmonica. He was an avid fan of western movies starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Known for his joyful and humorous nature, Edward had a gift for making those around him happy. Some would say he was a true comedian at heart. Above all, he cherished time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Sharon Nyhart (Huckle), Glen Free (Kelley), Malissa Vanderlyn (Barry), and Kelly Free, along with 8 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and his grand fur baby, Kona (Tina)

A graveside service will be conducted at Rest Haven Cemetery on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Tim Lester officiating.
