Elam Glenn Yoder, 86, of Hagerstown, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born March 21, 1937, in Meyersdale, PA, he was the son of the late Henry L. Yoder and Mabel (Hershberger) Yoder. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura (Garber) Yoder in 2014.  He was the second oldest of six children of which three preceded him in death. Elam grew up on a farm and also worked in the carpentry trade on occasion.  He made his primary career in the meat processing industry at a family-owned business known as Yoder’s Meat Packers & Country Market “The Locker Plant”.  He retired there after 43 years of service.
He resided in Grantsville, MD, for 43 years where he was a faithful member of Mountain View Christian Fellowship. In 2001, he moved to the Hagerstown community to be near his children and grandchildren. At that time, he became a member of Salem Ridge Community Church in Greencastle, PA. Elam’s Christian faith was very important in his life, and he enjoyed traveling, camping, singing, listening to southern gospel groups, grilling, & home landscaping.  He also worked at Food Lion on a part time basis and volunteered at Booksavers in Hagerstown.
 Elam is survived by his second wife of five years, Ann Shannon Duffey; four children, Delores Eileen Swartzentruber and husband, Stuart Earl, of Ontario, Canada, Mervin Eugene Yoder and wife, Karen Marie, of Smithsburg, Leon Dale Yoder and wife, Robin Kay, of Sharpsburg, Donna Jane Starliper and husband, Jay Eugene, of Sharpsburg; two siblings, Dorothy Fern Beachy of Elizabethtown, PA, Elaine Doris Yoder of Salisbury, PA., ten grandchildren, Jeremy David Swartzentruber (Shelbi), Danae Rochelle Beitzel (Daniel), Renita Beth Swartzentruber, Melanie Joy Swartzentruber, Joshua Alexander Yoder, Hannah Marie Yoder, Lexi Leigh Yoder, Spencer Dale Yoder, Brandon Jay Starliper, Bethany Ann Starliper; two step-grandchildren, Travis Jay Starliper (Megan), Jaimee Lyn Schrimsher (Josh); and eight great-grandchildren.
 A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Salem Ridge Community Church, 441 Pensinger Road, Greencastle, PA., with Pastor Brian Emery officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Ridge Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 21 from 6-8 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, and again one hour and a half before the service at the church on Friday, March 22, 2024 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elam’s name to Hospice of Washington County at www.hospiceofwc.org
