Eva Mildred Gaver

Eva Mildred (Cooney) Gaver, 92, previously of 134 Sunbrook Lane and 11925 Pheasant Trail, Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Doey's House.
Born June 4, 1925 in Sparrows Point, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Christopher and Mary (Strasbaugh) Cooney.
Eva was employed with the Washington County Board of Education as a food manager at Funkstown Elementary and later as a cafeteria aide at Potomac Heights Elementary.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; Ladies of the Elks; and the Lioness Club all of Smithsburg.
Eva enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy L. Kessler and companion Tom Fisher of Frederick, Bonnie M. Stull and husband John, Starla M. Carbaugh and husband Jeff, all of Hagerstown; a son, James E. Gaver, Jr. and wife Barbara of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Vanessa Gariazzo and husband Jeffrey of Staten Island, NY., Jessica Stull of Hagerstown, Cara Gaver of San Diego, CA., Robert Gaver of West Palm Beach, FL.; and two great-granddaughters, Gabrielle and Lilly Gariazzo of Staten Island, NY.
In addition to her parents, Eva was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, James E. Gaver, Sr., who died May 10, 2002; four brothers, Charles, William, Lawrence, and George Cooney; and three sisters, Elizabeth Wischuck, Frances Harrison, and Loretta Baker.
Inurnment will be private and held in Smithsburg Cemetery at the family's convenience.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eva's name to Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Main Street, Smithsburg, MD 21783; SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care & Hospice, 2700 Luther Dr, Chambersburg, PA 17202; or to Hospice of Washington County,747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
