Florence B. Blickenstaff

Florence Bernadine (Allen) Blickenstaff, 96, of Hagerstown, passed away, Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Golden Living.
Born September 7, 1917 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Fleda (Martin) Allen.
She was a 1934 graduate of Hagerstown High School, and a graduate of Hagerstown Business College.
In addition to being a homemaker, she retired after 50 years as a superintendent and teacher of the Primary department of Grace United Methodist Church and as a clerk at Potomac Edison. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for 86 years.
Florence is survived by her grandchildren, Donna M. (Embly) Eialnd of Hagerstown, Timothy D. Embly of Powell, TN, Lisa D. (Embly) Palmer of Keedysville and Andrea L. (Blickenstaff) Smith of Lyndhurst, Va.; son in law, Mearl L. Embly; daughter in law, Linda (Ingerto) Blickenstaff Wright; brother in law, Clyde Carbaugh; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Florence was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Blickenstaff; her children, Diane M. (Blickenstaff) Embly and Allen W. Blickenstaff; sister, Myrtle E. (Allen) Carbaugh and brother, Regis C. Allen.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with the Rev. Curtis Ehrgott officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Florence's name to Grace United Methodist Church, (Youth Ministry) 712 W. Church St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
