Frank Mason Carpenter

July 30, 1939 — September 2, 2020

Frank Mason Carpenter, age 81, U.S. Airman First Class Veteran, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.

Devoted father of Frank (Abigail), Stephen (Katjie), and Scott (Alexandra). Cherished Pop-Pop to Bobby and Geoffrey (Frank), and Lola, Vivien, and Rocco (Stephen). Dear brother to Bill (Doris), Flora "Peg", Jim (Shirley), Robert "Bob" (Linda), Nancy, Sally (Darrell), Elizabeth "Sugar" (Bill), Amy "Cookie," and John. Beloved Uncle to 35 nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his brothers Conrad (Jane), Phillip “Butch” (Peg), Jim (Shirley), and Verden “Joe” (Dee), and parents Frank M. and Ruth N. (Gruber) Carpenter.

Frank was born July 30, 1939 in Clear Spring Maryland. He resided most recently in Hagerstown, MD. After graduating from Clear Spring High School, Frank served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a Radar Maintenance Technician and rose to the rank of Airman First Class. During his tenure in the Air Force he received several awards, including Airman of the Month.

Frank was a proud Veteran and served as Commander of the Damascus American Legion Post 171, where he greatly enjoyed the fellowship.

Subsequent to his military service, his career in international sales took him around the world many times over. His International business experience provided him with the skills to develop a successful business of his own.

Although a successful businessman, the center of Frank’s life was his devotion to his grand family, and loyalty to his many friends. The list of people Frank has helped in life is too long to type. He was extremely generous and always looked out for the people he loved. He had a love for country music and Stained Glass Bluegrass, and was known to break into a jig from time to time.

He will be sorely missed, as his life was blessed, and fond memories of him will continue. Services will be provided by the Rest Haven Funeral Home with a Graveside services at 10:00 AM, Saturday, Sept 12, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of Washington County for the Frank M. & Ruth N. Carpenter Family Scholarship Fund 37 S Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
