Gertrude Christina (Kremer) Rider, 95, of Williamsport, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at her home.

Born September 2, 1920 in Winchester, VA, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Marion and Ada Christina (Schuller) Kremer.

Gertrude retired after 21 years of service as a seamstress at Dorbee's Manufacturing and Sewing Factory in Hagerstown.

She was a member of the Williamsport American Legion Post. 202 Ladies Auxiliary. Gertrude enjoyed crocheting, bowling, gardening, and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Donald Rex Rider, who died Sept. 5, 2015; her first husband, Wayne Pershing Hawkins; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Hawkins; two sisters, Frances Cole, Maddie McCarty; and a brother, Daniel Kremer.

She is survived by three sons, Ronald W. Hawkins and wife Cindy of Annapolis, Thomas M. Hawkins and wife Linda of Hagerstown, Richard E. Hawkins, Sr. and wife Chris of Boonsboro; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County 747 Northern Ave Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to the Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Rd., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
