Gloria Jean Embly, 82, of Hagerstown, passed away Monday, February 26th, at Meritus Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was born August 23, 1941 in Hagerstown. She was the daughter of the late Maynard R. and Evelyn F. Sampson.

She was a 1958 graduate of Hagerstown High School and had worked at Victor Hosiery and retired from Hechts Department Store.

She was lovingly known to many as MeeMaw. She loved the beach, almost as much as she loved shopping. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports, her loyal dog Troop, and most importantly, she loved her family unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Robert L. Embly.

Gloria is survived by her loving family; daughter Teresa Poffenberger and her fiancé, John of Clear Spring, son Robert Embly, Jr. and his fiancé Lori of Martinsburg, WV; step son John Musey and his wife Nancy of Virginia; Grandchildren Jason and his wife, Jess; Jennifer and her husband Bobby; Jamie and her fiancé Ryan; Jordan and her fiancé Owen; and Garrett; Great-Grandchildren Chase, his fiancé JacLynn and their son Kayden; Jason; Patience, her boyfriend Ramez and their children Kylo and Oasis; Cole; Trevor; Julia; Wyatt; and Mollie.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter Debra Billman and son in law Rich Poffenberger

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jennifer and Bobby for taking such amazing care of our beloved Meemaw.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Rest Haven Funeral Home with Pastor James Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Sunday, March 3rd from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
