Harryette Ellen Martin, 72, of Smithsburg, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on March 14, 1953, in Hagerstown, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Ellsworth Eardley and Barbara Elizabeth (Bock) Eardley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Brian Scott Martin.

Harryette was a woman of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering kindness. A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, she was Lutheran by faith and lived her life with grace and humility.

She had a profound love for animals and possessed a gentle spirit that animals seemed to sense immediately. Whether caring for a family pet or admiring wildlife in her garden, she found great joy in the natural world. An avid gardener, Harryette had an extraordinary green thumb and spent countless hours tending to her flowers and plants, creating a space of beauty and peace for those around her.

True to her caring nature, Harryette was drawn to the healthcare field. She concluded her career as a phlebotomist for Trivergent through Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, where she was admired by colleagues and patients alike for her kindness and professionalism.

Harryette is survived by her son, Steven Michael Martin; two cherished grandchildren; Sage Maddox Martin and Bailey Ziler; and two loving sisters, Cathy Virata and Susan Craig.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday August 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown. Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.
