Helen Irene Gossard

Helen Irene Gossard, 88, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Homewood of Williamsport.

Born October 13, 1934 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late, Charles Welty and Mary Elizabeth (Reese) Harshman. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by two siblings, Robert L. Harshman and Joan Heil and by her in laws, Albert J. and Helen L. (Mongan) Gossard.

Mrs. Gossard retired in 1993 with over 25 years of service as a Title I Instructor for the Washington County Board of Education. 

She was a member of the West Hagerstown Lions Club. She was a past Beaver Creek Country Club Champion and she was an avid bowler and sports fan, especially a fan of the Maryland Terrapins. 

Mrs. Gossard is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, James B. Gossard, Sr.; two children, James B. Gossard, Jr. (Wilma) and Cindy S. Sensenbaugh (Leroy); two grandchildren whom she loved spending time with, James B. Gossard III (Krysten) and Megan N. Sensenbaugh, and several nieces and nephews 

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
