James Franklin "Frank" Deavers, 88, of Hagerstown, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at his home surrounded by family.
Born May 9, 1924, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Walter Allen and Maude (Rockwell) Deavers.
Army Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration.
He was a member of Grace Bible Church in Greencastle, VFW Post 6241 and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of more than 63 years, Helen Elizabeth Deavers; a daughter, Carolyn Rotz and husband, Duane, of Hagerstown; a sister, Pauline Jennings of Allentown, Pa.; and grandchildren, Lindsey and Douglas O'Neil.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Deavers; his brother, William Deavers; twin brothers, Donald and Harold Deavers; and his twin brother, John "Wes" Deavers.
A funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastors Herman Fisler and Gerald Carbaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742 or Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road, Greencastle, PA 17225.
