Jesus Castaneda Barcelona

Jesus Castaneda Barcelona, 99, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born on October 14, 1925, in Balian, Pontevedra, Capiz, Philippines, he was the son of the late Leon and Tomasia (Castaneda) Barcelona.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Leonisa Tan Barcelona, his son Melanio Barcelona, and his daughter Prescila Barcelona

Jesus lived a life marked by independence, resilience, and faith. A proud veteran, he faithfully served in the Philippine Army for 30 years. In 1980, he was allowed to migrate to the USA and live in Long Beach, California. In September 2021, he transferred to Hagerstown, Maryland, and lived with his granddaughters and became a devoted member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Hagerstown. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—eating his favorite meals, watching sports, and spending time in daily prayer.

He is survived by his loving children: Romeo Barcelona ( Dolores Barcelona) Edmario Barcelona (Ma. Teresa Barcelona), Generoso Barcelona, and Marionita Evangelista; his cherished grandchildren: Shaynee Ann Araneta (Lemuel Araneta), Marishyl Barcelona, Marienyl Joy Barcelona, Neil John Evangelista, Kevinmar Evangelista( Mary Chen Evangelista)Marianne Dianne Evangelista, and Jane Evangelista; and his great-grandchild, Simonne Araneta.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742. Interment will follow at Rest Haven
