John Arthur Smith

John Arthur Smith, 75, of Hagerstown, passed away, Sunday, October 11, 2020, at the Ravenwood Nursing Care Center, Hagerstown, Md.

Born August 10, 1945 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Paul Luther and Florence Bertha (Beard) Smith. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Donna Mae ( Rockwell) Smith on December 1, 2015.

Mr. Smith was a 1963 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

He was a US Army Reserve veteran for eleven years being honorably discharged in January 1976.

Mr. Smith was as a material handler for the Potomac Edison Electric Company retiring in 2007 after 39 years of service.

He was a member of Christ Reformed Church, the North American Rod and Gun Club and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 378, all of Hagerstown. He favorite past time was traveling.

Mr. Smith is survived by a nephew, James N. Rockwell, III and his wife, Pamela of Gettysburg, Pa.; a great nephew, Bryan Rockwell of Pensacola, Fla; a great niece, Rebecca Rockwell of Gettysburg two cousins, Pamela and Matthew Hunter and their children, Patrick and Ryan of Emmaus, Pa.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.

Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday one hour prior to the service.

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, facial coverings and social distancing are required and no more than 60 people in the funeral home at one time. On Friday, the funeral home will open at 9:00 A.M. for anyone who would like to call throughout the day.
