John Donald Miller, Jr.

John Donald “Donnie” Miller Jr., 66, of Hagerstown, MD passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. Born July 14, 1955, he was the son of the late John Donald Miller, Sr., and Betty Lee (Stouffer) Miller.
John was a 1972 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
In his early years, John worked as a brick mason for Bragunier Masonry of Clearspring, MD and United Masonry of Virginia. He was always assigned to detailed brick work as he was a gifted craftsman and builder. John took great pride in his work as is customary for many builders in our area. Later in life, John was a dedicated associate at Sam’s Club in Hagerstown, MD where he held many titles and made many lifelong friends.
John loved many things in life, most of all his family in which he expressed unconditional love. He was an avid NASCAR watcher and the biggest Dale Earnhardt and Kevin Harvick fan. He also loved the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Orioles. He enjoyed listening to all types of music, but his favorite was smooth jazz, especially Sade.
He is survived by his loving family; his daughter Jenifer Thompson and husband Bobby, and mother Debi Canfield whom he had been married to and remained lifelong friends all from Hagerstown, a son John D. Miller III of Hagerstown, a brother Larry Miller and wife Pam of Hagerstown, two sisters Debra Hafer and husband Fred of Hanover, PA and Helena Niswander of Hagerstown, two granddaughters Isabella and Alyssa Thompson, two grandsons Robbie Thompson and John D. Miller IV, and many nieces and nephews.
The love and dedication of his siblings was something John was thankful for.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Salvation Army Chapel, 539 George Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740. Friends and family will be received on Monday, December 20 from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
