John Raymond Tosten, Jr., 81, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, surrounded by his son and daughter.
Born November 17, 1943 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Ketterman) Tosten, Sr.
Mr. Tosten was a US Army Veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and classified as a Sharpshooter.
He was a retiree of Mack Trucks Hagerstown Power Train Division (Volvo Group) and a proud member of the UAW Local 71.
He was an avid golfer in the Mack Truck Golf League and enjoyed watching and cheering for his beloved Baltimore Orioles. In addition, he spent many hours researching his family's genealogy.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Naomi (Berger) Tosten, whom he married on November 19, 1965; his brother, William Tosten; and sister, Jean (Tosten) Trace.
Mr. Tosten is survived by his son, Timothy J. Tosten and his husband Gregory R. Wilson of Frederick, MD; his daughter, Shannon M. Ott and husband Robert of Brigantine, NJ; a very special granddaughter Natalie K. Ott and her fiancé, Gabrielle Boyd, of Plainville, GA; many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
It was his request to have no public viewing. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 1-3 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.Inurnment will be held privately in Rest Haven Cemetery.
