Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Joe.
We were blessed with Joseph (Joe) Davidson for almost 53 years. Joe was taken home to Jesus early this month and will be deeply missed. All who knew Joe would attest to his caring, his sense of humor, and his intelligence. Those who knew him really well would also extol his love of the Oxford comma which I make sure to use. Joe is survived by his wife Bernie and their four children, Timothy, Erin, Aubrey, and Thomas. He is also survived by his father Larry, his siblings Becky and Dan, and many nieces and even more nephews. Joe’s Christmas letters were legendary and will be missed almost as much as Joe himself. Anyone who really knew Joe will tell you that he didn’t see the best in people, he saw the best they could be. It could be hard to live up to that but he inspired all those around him to see in themselves what he saw in them. Joe loved to go to baseball games and root, root, root for the home team. He loved the Packers, Volkswagen Beatles, THE Beatles, and Civil War history. Joe loved his family and was so proud of each of his children. Joe’s proudest accomplishment after his children was his company Cleara which he started in 2017. It had been a years-long dream and was his fifth child. We will forever miss the sparkle of love, intelligence, and humor that danced in his eyes.
Joe’s funeral service will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church in Hagerstown with the family receiving visitors 9:30-10:45 and his funeral service at 11:00. There will be a short Committal Service followed by a meal at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Concordia Lutheran Church in Hagerstown or Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society).
