Lawrence Nathan Alsip, Jr., 80, of Maugansville, Md., passed away, Monday, October 4, 2021 , at Doey's House, Hagerstown, Md.
Born July 12, 1941 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Lawrence N. Alsip, Sr. and Ida Bernice (Mowen) Alsip.
Mr. Alsip was a 1960 graduate of North Hagerstown High School.
He was an electrician for 15 years and retired in 2001 from the Hagerstown Fire Department with 23 years of service.
He attended Paramount Baptist Church and was a member of the Maugansville Ruritan Club, Elks Club and the North American Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, taking cruises and bus trips.
Mr. Alsip husband, father and grandfather is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sylvia J. (Ocker) Alsip; one son, Lawrence N. "Chip" Alsip III and wife, Nicole; two grandchildren, Sophia and Liam Alsip; one sister, Susan (Alsip) Lawson and husband, Duane.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Lawrence's name to the Maugansville Ruritan Club, 18007 Maugans Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
