Linda Lou Lemen, 84, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at her home where she had been cared for by her loving husband the past several years of declining health with dementia. Born September 27, 1939, in Hagerstown, Maryland, Linda was the daughter of Marvin Franklin Baker (Jane) and Lillian Grace Kelly (Melvin).
Linda was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School Class of 1957 where she also was a majorette. She enjoyed the combined North/South High School reunions and the resulting friendships that endured over the years.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, George “Pete” Lemen; son Bradley Lemen (Nadia) of Bristow, VA and daughter Kelly Rachor of Hagerstown, MD. She adored her grandchildren, Noah Lemen of New York, NY; Daniel Lemen (Kacie) of Germantown, MD; Hannah Lemen of Frederick, MD; Cody Rachor of Chambersburg, PA and Sawyer Rachor of Hagerstown, MD. She is also survived by sister-in-laws Sarah Jane Lemen Weikert of Hagerstown; Mary McCauley of Fredericksburg, VA and Cindy Baker of Vandalia, OH, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her beloved dog, Holly, was always by her side even at the end of her life.

In her younger years, she was employed by the Moller Pipe Organ Union Steward office before raising her children. She then worked a classified job for Government Services Administration (GSA) from 1984 until 1995. Later, she worked at Surrey Elementary and Lincolnshire Elementary as a cafeteria aid.
She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, MD. She enjoyed the friendships she developed being a member of her sorority, TOPS and The Red Hat Society.
Linda enjoyed traveling with Pete and her children while camping and taking family trips to Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, Florida, New York City and Niagara Falls. She enjoyed frequent trips to Lancaster, PA and the various trips antiquing with Pete. Linda especially enjoyed her trips to New England, Hawaii, and Alaska with Pete. She always had a beautiful smile, was friendly and nobody was a stranger as Linda would converse with everyone she encountered. She loved get-togethers with her children and grandchildren. She loved watching the birds and animals in her yard, her soap operas and loved her poodles over the years. She loved going to Pen Mar Park to listen to music and dance. She was particularly fond of music, enjoying her 50’s crooners, and even with dementia would smile and dance in her seat to the tunes of the past.
Services will be held Wednesday, March 20 at Rest Haven funeral chapel on Pennsylvania Ave in Hagerstown, Maryland. Visitation will begin at 10 am with the service following at 12 noon and will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. K. Robert Schmitt from Trinity Lutheran Church.
