Marcia Dianne Mackley (Johns), born October 14, 1956, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 24, 2024, in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
Marcia was a loving mother to Meghann Karasic (O’Reilly) and mother-in-law to Matthew Karasic. In recent years, Marcia embraced the joy of grandmotherhood, nurturing Margot Karasic and Benjamin Karasic with unconditional love. Marcia was also a cherished daughter to Corrine Mackley (Locke) and the late Charles Johns (2018), and cherished step-daughter to the late Kenneth Mackley (2002). She was also a beloved sister to Robin Dickerson (Johns), Denise Hovermale (Johns), and Heidi Mengers (Mackley), and beloved step-sister to Erich Mackley, the late Garth Mackley (1981), Marlene Beckler (Mackley), and Michelle Testani (Mackley).
Marcia's spirit soared in the embrace of nature, her artistic endeavors, and her melodic voice. She possessed a boundless empathy, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her faith in Christianity was steadfast, guiding her through life's trials and triumphs. Marcia's intellect shone brightly, particularly evident in her ability to attain a master’s degree while living as a single parent, and later seen in her passion for mapping her family’s genealogy. Her determination and brilliance were unparalleled when she embarked on a task. In the hearts of those who knew her, Marcia leaves behind a legacy of kindness and creativity, a spirit of optimism, dutiful adherence to the rules of etiquette, and unwavering faith. Her presence, love, and support will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever resonate in the lives she touched.
