Ned Leon Spessard, Sr., 91, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Saturday, September 2, 2023, at his home.
Born August 15, 1932 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Russell L. Spessard, Sr. and Mary W. Browning-Rowe. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy L. (Eichelberger) Spessard and a great great grandson, Justice C. C. Myers-Cannon.
Mr. Spessard was a furniture maker having worked for Brandt Furniture and retiring in 2005 from Statton Furniture.
He was a member of the Eagles, Owls, Goodwill Athletic Association, Moose, V.F.W., all of Hagerstown and the Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion, Funkstown, Md.
Mr. Spessard is survived by one son, Ned L. Spessard, Jr. and wife, Loretta; one daughter, Shirlene S. Spessard, all of Hagerstown; two granddaughters, Dorothea L. Spessard-Myers and husband, Paul Spickler of Hagerstown and Misty Shoemaker and husband, Dickie of Williamsport, Md.; three great granddaughters, Ashley Rutherford and husband, Michael of Hagerstown, Jordan and Alyssa Shoemaker of Williamsport; three great great grandsons, Lucky Brown, Jay and Pax Rutherford; his angel, Ashly Carter; family friends, Lorraine O'Neill, Cindy Slingluff and Michele Flook and all his wonderful neighbors on Jefferson St.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11:30 A.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ned's name to Hospice of Washington County,1710 Underpass Way, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
