Patricia Hovermale (Schlotterbeck)

Hagerstown, MD – Patricia Ann (Pat) Hovermale (Schlotterbeck), 90, of Hagerstown, MD passed on to her heavenly home peacefully on June 29th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD.

She was born on June 29th, 1934, in Hagerstown, MD to the late Albert Schlotterbeck Sr. and Edith Schlotterbeck (Marker)

She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School in 1952.

She is survived by her two sons, Douglas Brenton (Doug), wife Jan and Robert Blake (Rob), wife Suzy; four grandchildren Kelsey Janelle Lorman (John), Scott Brenton Hovermale (Kara), Bailey Elise Hovermale (Adam) and Bethany Nicole Hovermale; 2 great granddaughters, Josey Janelle and Kenley Beck; her brother, Kenneth Schlotterbeck (Kenny) and wife Judy; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 69 years Robert (Bob) Hovermale, and her siblings, Albert, Jr., Donald, Paul, Martha Jane, Dorothea, and Allen Eugene.

After high school she married her husband Robert (Bob) Hovermale, and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for 4 years, while Bob served his military service at Kirtland Air Force Base. From there they moved back to Hagerstown, MD to live and raise their family.

Once back in Hagerstown, and during the raising of their sons, she continued her Early Childhood Development education at Hagerstown Junior College. Upon receiving her certification, she was then employed by and retired from the Washington County School Board, working at the Robinwood Early Childhood Education Center on the Junior College Campus.

Her passion was raising her sons and spending as much quality time with them as possible. Pat loved to go camping with her husband and sons and looked forward to their annual trip to the beach in Ocean City.

Pat loved her family. She loved getting her whole extended family together (siblings and spouses) and as all the families grew, she cherished getting them ALL together. Whether it be for holidays, picnics, birthdays, or any occasion she could create to spend time with them, she was happiest when she was surrounded by family.

She loved to cook and bake. No one ever went hungry when she did the cooking and so many wonderful memories were made by all around her table.

Pat loved to decorate. She beautifully decorated her house for each and every holiday throughout the year and a few she made up on her own in between. You could go to her house one month and the next month it looked completely different. She used this passion for decorating while working with her preschoolers at Robinwood and at her church, St. Marks.

The family will receive friends at the Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD on Monday July 8th, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
