Phyllis Padgett Beard

Phyllis P. Beard, 90 died peacefully on Friday, November 3, 2023. She had been suffering from dementia and was well cared for by friends and family. She was born in Hamilton, NY to Ralph and Ruth Padgett. She was a 1953 graduate of University of Rochester School of Nursing at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY. Her nursing career included Rochester, New York City, San Fransisco, Syracuse, NY, Beirut, Lebanon and Hagerstown, MD. 

She met her husband, Bill in Syracuse, NY and had three children: Robert W. Beard, Laura P. Beard, and Carolyn K. Beard and grandson, William Nathaniel Beard. 
 
She was an amazing cook who loved to entertain. Phyllis had an adventurous and playful spirit that took her around the world with her husband, family and friends. 

Her passions included flowers, jewelry, her little doggies, her family, socializing and playing tennis. She will be missed! 

A funeral service will be held at St John’s Episcopal Church 101 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown, MD on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow at the church.
