Robert Eugene Holsinger, Sr.

Robert (Bob) Eugene Holsinger Sr., 92, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at Mercy House in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Robert’s life was a testament to faith, service, and unwavering dedication to family and community.


Born on June 6, 1933 in Maugansville, Maryland, Robert proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he built a life marked by hard work, generosity, and integrity.A skilled butcher by trade, Robert operated the family meat market for many years. Alongside his trade, he held a long and successful career at Fairchild, rising to the role of Superintendent and earning numerous awards for his leadership and service. He also worked briefly at the U.S. Post Office, managing multiple responsibilities with quiet resilience and pride.

Robert was an active and devoted member of many organizations that reflected his strong faith and deep sense of community. He was a member of Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship, and belonged to the Freemasons (Friendship Lodge), Shriners, Scottish Rite, Knights Templar, Order of the Eastern Star (Queen Esther Chapter), Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA), Elks, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and the Maugansville Ruritan Club. In each of these, Robert gave generously of his time, energy, and heart, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of six years, Ruby Holsinger; his children: Robert Holsinger II (wife Trish), Lisa Eckel, and James Holsinger, all residing in the Hagerstown, Maryland area. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved first wife of 63 years, Regine Holsinger; his father, L. Elwood Holsinger; his mother, Helen Holsinger; and his two sisters, Mary Ellen Snyder and Judy Eshelman (husband Willie).

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship. A graveside service will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 13th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, where Masonic and Eastern Star services will be conducted during the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Mercy House of Chambersburg or the Shriners Children's Hospital, in honor of Robert’s lifelong service, generous spirit, and faith-filled heart.Robert’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched — a man of steady devotion, service to others, and a love that never wavered.
