Russell Lowry Rowe

Russell L. Rowe, Resident of Chambers Point Retirement Center, (formerly Penn Hall), Chambersburg, PA died on December 4, 2021. Russell was born on August 28, 1918 near Chambersburg. He was the son of the late David L. and Florence Cluck Rowe. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Gordon Rowe in 1994; his second wife, Dorothy Smith Rowe in 2011; Daughter Linda Rowe Ahmed in 2015; four sisters, Bertha R. Hanson Santo, Zelda R. Mencer, Hazel R. Cundy and Grace R. McNair Over. He was a current member of Cornerstone Church of Christ in Chambersburg. Also, he was a member of the organizing committee and a Charter member of Covenant United Presbyterian Church in Hagerstown, MD. Russell graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1937. Following graduation he completed two years of Home Study in Engineering with Chicago Technical College. He worked for 36 years at Pangborn Corporation in Hagerstown, MD serving in the Engineering, Marketing Division and the International Branch. After retiring from Pangborn, he worked as a Consultant for 18 years on Engineering projects with companies in the area. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during WWII, serving in Europe with the Combat Engineers. Surviving are one daughter, Jill R. DiZio (husband Thomas) of Marco Island, FL: one niece, Margaret M. Olson ( husband Ron) of Annapolis, MD; four grandchildren, Tehmina Murray, Sadia Robinson, Andrew DiZio and Karen DiZio Lee; five great-grandchildren Jordan and Brady Murray, Kendall, Evelyn and Aubrey DiZio; step-sister-in-law, Sarah Smith of Cascade, MD and many step-grandchildren and great step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday December 10 2021 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends one hour (10 AM) prior to the service. Burial after service will be private at the gravesite. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask. The family would like to thank the Menno Haven Retirement Community staff for their excellent care over the last 10 years. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Church of Christ, 1350 Tallow Hill Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202.
