Sylvia Jean Alsip

Sylvia Jean Alsip, 82, of Maugansville, MD, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at her home. She was the wife of Lawrence Alsip, Jr., for 59 years.

Born on June 23, 1943, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Russell & Ruby Ocker.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Ocker.

Sylvia graduated from North High in 1961. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother.

She attended Paramount Baptist Church. She enjoyed taking cruises, bus trips, camping, and spending time with family. She was a member of the Ruritan Club in Maugansville.

She is survived by one son, Lawrence (Chip) Alsip, III, of Hagerstown, and wife, Nicole Alsip; brother, Gerald Ocker and wife, Loise; grandchildren, Sophia and Liam Alsip; and nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
