Terry Michael Plunkett

Terry M. Plunkett, age 64, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025. Born on August 11, 1961, in York, PA, and raised in Hagerstown, MD, Terry was the son of the late Donald Plunkett and Rosalie (Krebs) Plunkett.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Kathy (Harp) Plunkett; his son, Nathaniel Plunkett, and fiancée Arin; and his three daughters, Keri Plunkett and partner Brad, Shanan Plunkett and wife Amber, and Shawna Wyatt and husband Owen. He will also be lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren: Rylan Byers, Drayton Byers, Kota Wetzel, Skylar Clipp, and Maverick Vermillion. In addition, Terry is survived by his siblings: James Plunkett and wife Nancy, Randy Plunkett and wife Sally, Penny Beard and husband Dwight, Holly Sines and husband Michael, and Jill Cushwa and husband Michael; as well as extended family and many dear friends.

Terry graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1979 and studied plumbing at Votech High. With the skills he gained, Terry helped with the construction of Northern Middle School, a project that remained one of his proudest accomplishments. He went on to work as an assembly mechanic at Fairchild Aircraft (later Rohr), and Rotarex, and devoted the past 27 years to Jamison Door Company, where he was admired for his work ethic, leadership, and technical skills.

Terry was a simple man, who liked the simple things. He found peace and relaxation spending evenings on his deck listening to southern rock music, reminiscing, and sharing childhood stories and many cherished memories with those around him. Terry carried a deep love for God and had a knack for bringing joy to others with his humor, lighthearted goofiness and impressions. He was an American history enthusiast and avid collector, treasuring relics he discovered through his hobby of metal detecting. Most of all, Terry enjoyed participating in Civil War reenactments, where he built lifelong friendships and a bond of brotherhood. He was also a devoted fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Los Angeles (St. Louis) Rams, and NASCAR.

To all who knew him, Terry will be remembered as the life of the party, a loving son, devoted husband, proud father, caring brother, fun uncle, and faithful friend. Though gone too soon, Terry’s joy, laughter, and love will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
