Thelma Delores Bassett

On April 1, 2024, Thelma Delores Bassett passed away peacefully at the age of 69 at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, MD. She was born on February 14, 1955, in Halifax, North Carolina, to the late Howard and Constance Jenkins.

Thelma lived a life of being one of the kindest people you will know. She loved butterflies and the color purple. She was a good friend to many and an even better mother to her daughter, Latisha Bassett (aka Tish or Tigger). She worked at Bed Bath & Beyond for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Latisha Bassett (aka Tish), her brother Howard Jenkins Jr., sister-in-law Jacqueline Jenkins, her sisters Samantha Pratt (aka Cookie), Diane Chapman, and Howard Jenkins III. She is also survived by her nieces Shaunte Taylor, Kristen White, Ebony Pratt, Chanel Chapman, Essence Pratt, her nephews Marvin Washington II and LaMar Jenkins.

She also leaves behind her godson, Kyle Thomas, his son Jordan Thomas (aka Ju-Ju), and her two best friends of 36 years, Lori Thomas and Lisa Saylor-Conner.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Constance Jenkins, her sister Une Jenkins-Silver, and her nephew Ernest Pratt II.

Thelma will be remembered and truly missed.
