Velma Caroline "Carlene" Myers Cullison
Hagerstown, MD Velma Caroline Cullison, 87, of Hagerstown, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 27, 2013.
Born March 28, 1926 in Porterstown, Md., outside Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Howard S. and Matrona C. (Walters) Myers of Clear Spring, Md.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Russell; brothers, Floyd Myers, Alvin Myers, Gardner Myers, Leland Myers and Granville Myers; sisters, Patsy Krause; twin sister, Thelma Eioline Myers and son, Anthony V. Walchshauser.
After working at the Washington County Hospital in medical records, she retired in 1986 from Western Maryland Hospital Center as a medical records director after 25 years. She was the owner and operator of Nanny's Nook, a craft shop in Hagerstown for ten years. She enjoyed crafts and showing off her talents at craft shows.
Her passion was sewing. An expert seamstress who enjoyed making things for family and friends.
She was a lifetime member of the Hagerstown Bible Church where she served her Lord in many areas: deaconess, Sunday School teacher, children's programs, choir member, Women's Missionary Circle and volunteered wherever needed, including the Hagerstown Area Pregnancy Center.
She is survived by two brothers, LeRoy E. Myers, Sr. and George W. Myers, both of Clear Spring; three sons, Richard Cullison and wife Sherry of Hagerstown, Clement Walchshauser and wife Anne of Plainsfield, Illinois and Michael Walchshauser and wife Donna of Hagerstown; two daughters, Carolyn Reel and husband Fred of Hagerstown and Sharon Guidice and husband Larry of Smithsburg; daughter-in-law, Carol (Anthony) Walchshauser; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Hagerstown Bible Church, 203 Summit Ave., Hagerstown on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Dale Carver officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown. Following the burial, family and friends are invited back to the church for a time of fellowship and refreshments.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 3-7 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hagerstown bible Church, 203 Summit Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to the Hagerstown Area Pregnancy Center c/o Hagerstown Bible Church.
